BARBADIANS WIN BIG WITH HIT FOR SIX!

Barbadians have been winning big with Hit For Six!, the popular locally produced movie which is now in an impressive fifth week of showing at the Olympus Theatres.

Linda Kay-Robinson, grand prize winner of the “Hit For Six! – 98.1 The One” radio promotion, is still thrilled about her win of two coveted tickets to the recently held international premiere of the movie, one Blackberry Pearl, compliments Cable & Wireless, a weekend for two at the lovely Bougainvillea hotel, a designer gown by Pat Brathwaite, a make-over by Adzil Stuart and a limosine ride to and from the premiere compliments Paradise Limousine Services.

Linda, who was overcome with her winnings, said she appreciated the opportunity she got to “feel like a princess” and enjoyed Hit For Six! so much that she has even been back to see it with her friends. She described it as “a wonderful film with a great Caribbean feel”.

Another winner was Dwayne Grazette who walked away with the premiere door prize of a weekend for two at Colony Club hotel. Also lucky were Carl Chapman, who won a ticket to the movie premiere during a CBC Morning Barbados promotion and Cheryl Jean-Marie, who both received a copy of the locally produced game EeZee Kricket, by Barbadian inventor, James Corbin.

As Hit For Six! continues at the Olympus Theatres for five weeks running, its producer/director, Alison Saunders-Franklyn said she and the production team are very pleased with the local response to date: “It is really rewarding to have the movie showing for yet another week and also to have so many members of the viewing public come out to support our efforts. The movie is showing at 7:30 p.m. daily and we are hopeful that we can make to a sixth week.”

Hit For Six! has a Caribbean cast of lead actor Andrew Pilgrim (Alex Nelson) who finds himself caught in a love triangle with Astrid (Trinidadian, Jeanille Bonterre of MTV Tempo fame), and Janelle (Barbadian actress Varia Wiillams). British-based Trinidadian-born actor Rudolph Walker plays the part of Alex’s father Colin Thompson and Canadian-based actress Alison Sealy-Smith stars as his mother, Ianthe.

The movie which recently won three awards in the Bridgetown Film Festival is being prepared for regional and international distribution.
