HIT FOR SIX! BEGINS CARIBBEAN RUN

Hit For Six!, the new and exciting Caribbean movie starring the likes of popular MTV Tempo host, Jeanille Bonterre, has had its Jamaica debut!

The glamourous Trinidadian lass flew into Jamaica and joined Governor General, The Most Honourably Kenneth Hall and Mrs Rhema Hall, and Barbadian/Trinidadian writer and producer, Alison Saunders-Franklyn for the movie's recent premiere at Carib Cinema Kingston.

Guests who included Trevor Rhone, celebrated writer of the legendary Caribbean film, The Harder They Come, were impressed with the level of regional talent in all aspects of Hit For Six! Rhone, who also wrote and directed the very successful film Smile Orange said it was "an entertaining film with really memorable moments and engaging performances".

The movie is being billed as "an intriguing Caribbean story of love, scandal and desire" which is told through the life of a young West Indies cricket hero caught in a love triangle, an emotional and at times confrontational struggle with his estranged father and an accusation of match-fixing. Saunders-Franklyn observed that this movie, more than anything else, explores the universal themes of love, forgiveness and triumph over adversity and celebrates the uniqueness of Caribbean culture.

She told guests at the Jamaica premiere that Hit For Six! boasts an all-Caribbean cast and crew and introduced the members present including Jamaica-based actor/director Alwin Bully, script consultant Amba Chevannes and actor Lenny Salmon. She paid tribute to the film's director of photography, Jamaican, Richard Lannaman, who won the Award for Best Cinematographer at the Bridgetown Film Festival.

Jeanille, who stars as one of the love interests of lead actor, Andrew Pilgrim, also won an award in that Festival for Best Actress and Hit For Six! copped a third award for Best Barbadian Film.

Canadian-based, Barbadian actress Alison Sealy-Smith stars as the mother of the hero while British-based, Trinidadian-born actor Rudolph Walker stars as his father. Barbadian actress Varia Williams plays the second love interest.

Kingston's historic Melbourne Cricket Club hosted the premiere as a fund-raiser ahead of the public release on July 11 in five cinemas in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Club President and celebrated former West Indies cricket team captain, Ambassador Courtney Walsh, welcomed the guests and gave his endorsement. The movie is set to premiere in Trinidad in September.
